My Muse

Obviously, one of the people who inspires me the most is my precious daughter. That big bundle of joy has brought so much to my life.

I wrote my first book based on a character I made up at night when she’d demand, “Mom, don’t read to me tonight. Tell me a story, please. And thus, Faith the flower was conceived. A flower who lacked her very name. They say we write about what we know best and inside most of our work lies the author. That rings so very true because I was a single mother, finishing college who lacked Faith at the time.

As I near the release of my first children’s book and published work, I am reminded of how my daughter is my world. When I go on book signings, she will be there. When I read to schools, churches, events, etc., she will be in the audience when time permits and when we perform our “surprise” at the end of my readings, she will be there to share in the laughter.

I am so honored as a Mom to share my career as a writer with my daughter. My 2nd series of books is based on her character and artistry and my 3rd series of books are based on my Dachshund, my little furry friend. They say we write what we know. That’s true, but we also write about what/whom we love, hate, deserve, believe, and desire.

My daughter is my muse. Life is my muse. Music is my muse. What’s yours?

P.S. I got my first “acceptance” letter tonight. I am excited! I am thrilled. It’s for an anthology but my piece was accepted out of 500 submissions. I feel ACCOMPLISHED and this is just the beginning.
